Design Nails Baytown Services

I have been going here for over a year. I have always been pleased with their service; however, the guy that did them this last time I will never use again. I probably will not go back. Unfortunately I do not know his name but he is in the row to the right as you come in the door-next to the wall. They have always used hot water under the bowl of acetone to soak off my dip. When I asked him about it he just waived his hand and went on with his other customer. When he was ready to start my nails of course they were not soaked off yet so he had to use the drill-tool ALOT! The heat was uncomfortable on my nail beds and he filed them so much they were paper then. He did not put a clear coat of dip on top of the color but did put on 2 coats of topcoat that never fully dried resulting in a tiny smudge on one nail when I left. He was very rude and unprofessional and he took an hour and a half to do a bad job. Elysian Nails is pricey and most do a good job but stay away from this guy.

Went in for a quick polish change. The tech pulled out cuticle nippers that were sitting in her cart and not sterilized. For anyone who didn’t know those things should be brought out in a sealed package each time. After she finishes she put them back in the kit. Quickest way to get staph or worse.

Holly’s is hit or miss. First off, even if you have an appointment, expect to wait. I had a 9am appointment, right when they first opened, and when I got there at 9:02 the shop still wasn’t open and there were 10(!!) people in line - only half of whom had appointments. There was no way I was going to get done right away. Other times when I didn’t have an appointment I would call and every single time they told me on the phone yes, come right now we can get you in right now. And every single time I waited anywhere from 15 minutes to 30 minutes… annoying. The color selection of gel/shellac polishes seems great, until you realize half the bottles are mostly empty and will go on super thick. And I have to agree with many other reviewers that the staff just aren’t very friendly. The quality of my manicures and pedicures is usually pretty good (simple single colors, no designs) but the atmosphere is meh, and I do worry that they’re reusing tools because I never see them opening up sterile bags… just putting tools back in a toolbox for reuse. Giving 3 stars because they’re convenient and honestly I just don’t know another nail salon that has better service (although I wish I did!).
